Welded Wedge Wire Screens

Use

Characteristics

Screen area consists of wedge shaped wires welded to crosswise profiled wires; the accuracy of the aperture width, totally smooth upper active screen area, high stability, high stress ability and long lifetime of the screen area; it is possible to select the profile of the wedge wire according to the characteristics and abrasion characteristics of the sorted material.

Assembly instructions

The screen is fixed in technological machines (sorters, dehydration gutters and slides, filtration bottoms, malt kilns, fermentation reactors etc.) by various methods; it is usually screwed or wedged to the machine frame; the final assembly forming of welded wedge wire screen is usually impossible therefore the required shape must be defined, from the construction point of view, before the production.

Width of slit

0,03 - approx. 8 mm, larger widths are less common

Profile of wire

1,5 - 10 mm, height 4 - 14 mm.

Material

Stainless steel 17240 (DIN 1.4301) and other common quality stainless steel.

Loop wedge wire screen

Use

Characteristics

This screen consists of individual wedge wires with loop meshes on reinforced bars which are at the ends unriveted, welded (screwed) onto the side rods or supporting frame; good accuracy of the slit width, smooth upper active screen area, high stability, high stress ability and long lifetime of the screen, the screen area can be individually assembled or disassembled according to the particular use and possibility of the large additional shaping of the screen area or adaptation according to the operational need.

Assembly instructions

Fixing in technological machines is resolved individually, usually by screwing or welding onto the supporting frame of the screen; slits usually face the direction of the material flow; during the assembly the screen can be armoured, continously shaped, even disassembled and reassembled (for example for cleaning, replacement or repair), unless it is welded in loops or completely armoured.

Width of slit

0,04 - 5 mm, larger widths are less common

Profile of wire

1,5 - 3,5 mm, height of 3 - 7,5 mm (see chart 7.1 in the enclosure)

Stainless steel 17240 (DIN 1.4301) and other common stainless steel qualities.

Wedge wire shaped areas - baskets, cylinders, bent screens and special applications

Use and characteristics

Wedge wire screen areas, made of welded as well as loop profile wires, can be produced in varous shapes; according to the particular technological application, it is possible to produce  various wedge wire cylinders, baskets and other shaped wedge wire areas which are irreplaceable at dehydration, thickening, filtration and separation processes, for example in the sugar industry and many other food industries (breweries, chocolate factories, meat industry etc.), in the chemical, pharmaceutical and processing industries (as so called passive filters, reactors, candle filters etc.) and in many other compactor processes, for example compactors of coal and other solid minerals and raw materials, thickening suspensions and mud in sewage treatment plants etc.; the screens have an extremely strong construction, high aperture accuracy of cylindrical design in the axial and radial directions and plain outside or inside working area; this is the only possible technical solution for many technological processes (centrifugal machines, gravity dewatering and defecation machines etc.)

Assembly instructions

The shaped screen area (cylinder, cone etc.) is fixed in the technological machine or equipment by various methods, usually by welding or bolting onto the supporting frame; it has to be totally balanced, statically and dynamically, when used in centrifugal machines; at the end of the wedge cylinders there is usually a tap and connection screwing or it is made according to the technical documentation.
